Andrea Bocelli: The Voice That Touched the World
Andrea Bocelli is one of the most beloved and recognizable voices in the world of classical and popular music. Born on September 22, 1958, in Lajatico, Italy, Bocelli was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma and became completely blind at the age of 12 after a football accident. Despite this challenge, he never gave up on his love for music.
From an early age, Bocelli showed a deep passion for singing. He was inspired by legendary Italian tenors and began formal voice training while studying law at the University of Pisa. He worked as a lawyer for a short time before fully pursuing his dream of becoming a singer.
His big break came in 1992 when Italian rock star Zucchero Fornaciari held auditions for a demo with legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti. Bocelli’s demo impressed Pavarotti so much that it launched his career. Since then, Bocelli has released dozens of albums, combining opera, classical, and pop music in a way that captivates audiences around the world.
