Smothered Pork Chops
Ingredients:
4 bone-in or boneless pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
1/2 cup flour (for dredging)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or any cooking oil)
1 large onion, thinly sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups chicken broth (or pork broth if you have it)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional for added depth)
1 teaspoon thyme (dried or fresh)
1/2 cup heavy cream (optional for creamier gravy)
Chopped parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
Season the pork chops:
Mix the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish.
Dredge the pork chops in the seasoned flour mixture, coating both sides well. Shake off any excess flour.
Brown the pork chops:
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the pork chops to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown. The chops don’t need to be cooked through at this point, just browned. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
Make the gravy:
